User research
User research is an approach that allows us to understand users in order to improve the user experience of a web project.
Gather input from those most directly affected
User research involves understanding the needs, expectations, and experiences of users concerning a product, service, or interface. It encompasses various methods such as sending questionnaires, conducting interviews and focus groups (focus group).
These methods make it possible to gather valuable information by listening to the people who interact with the product or service. They help us make informed decisions for its improvement.
Listening to its users
More specifically, user research serves several purposes.
User research aims to obtain detailed answers and quantitative data about the user experience to better understand their preferences, frustrations, and expectations.
That is to say, identifying the obstacles users encounter when using a product or service, in order to then be able to resolve them.
User research helps to confirm or refute assumptions and design decisions, ensuring that the product or service truly meets users' needs.
Interviews and focus groups can be used to generate new ideas and concepts by collaborating directly with users, thus contributing to innovation and continuous improvement.
By understanding users’ motivations and concerns, user research allows adjustments to the design to optimize engagement and satisfaction, thus fostering a more positive user experience.
Questionnaire, interview guide and summary of results
As part of user research, depending on the chosen method, we are generally required to draft a questionnaire or an interview guide, meaning a set of questions and prompts used as a framework during interactions with the user. In both cases, they are prepared by our UX designers (user experience designers), sent out, and then approved by our client.
Once the user responses are collected, we create a detailed report that includes, among other things, validated hypotheses, points for improvement, things that stood out to us, etc.
