Glossary - G

The RGAA (currently in V4), or General Accessibility Guidelines for Administrations, is a specifically French standard that aims to make government websites and applications accessible to a wide audience, including people with disabilities.

The RGAA sets out criteria (106) and recommendations for digital accessibility, covering aspects such as content structuring, text alternatives for media, keyboard navigation, visual contrast, and much more.

It is essential and mandatory to comply with the RGAA when designing and developing government websites in France to ensure maximum accessibility for users.

Levels of compliance: The RGAA defines three levels of compliance: A, AA, and AAA, corresponding to the WCAG compliance levels. Level AA is generally recommended and is often seen as a standard for achieving reasonable and balanced accessibility.
