Stars of Science

bluedrop.fr has upgraded the site of the TV show Stars of Science, which begins its 12th season. Produced by the Qatar Foundation and broadcast on 8 cable and satellite channels, it is a reality TV scientific and technological contest. User experience is at the heart of the project developed on Drupal.

The project in a few words ...

Since its first broadcast in 2009, "Stars of Science" has invited innovators in the 18 to 35 year-old region to design technologies that impact their communities. This year, participants will be encouraged to create sustainable technological solutions in the medical, environmental fields with an impact on everyday life.

During each episode, the jury will evaluate the participants in small groups and eliminate the project that has received the least attention. One of the major changes this season is the collaborative platform available for the candidates: a large open space with assigned workstations that allows innovators to share ideas and their opinions while working on their projects.

bluedrop.fr has been tasked with the webdevelopment for the show since 2016.

 

The complete redesign of the Drupal theme

"Stars of Science" team wanted to modernize the site and offer a new experience.

We have co-built wireframes to allow visitors to quickly understand how new features are implemented, and how to articulate them.

Major evolutions

  • Video content
    We highlighted video content that is important in the user's journey. The page has been completely revised to categorize its content: the current season, the previous seasons, and the contents highlighted.
  • Candidates and Jury
    It was important to change the way to present this set of personalities, well known in their respective specialties.
  • Learn about broadcast channels
    Through our UX audit, we noticed that the page of the broadcasters page received lots of visits.

Season 11 !

The public will discover during 9 episodes eight candidates and their projects. They will participate in an innovation marathon throughout several stages: concept, prototyping, tests, before they reach the grand finale.
