The renewal of the Avignon Opera House

The Avignon Opera retains both the charm of its 19th-century Italian-style auditorium and the modern requirements of comfort, safety, and accessibility. The redesign of the operagrandavignon.fr website offers users access to its content and program while enhancing their user experience.

UX and UI design

The multiple workshops made it possible to focus the journeys on the target users of the Opera:

  • Exploration workshops (personas, user journeys & site map);
  • UX benchmarking;
  • Design Studio and zoning sessions;
  • User testing and UX questionnaires.

The UI design, largely facilitated by the work carried out from the start of the tender process, established the principles for using colors (purple, gold, gray, black, and white), Serif fonts and font pairing, large visuals, illustrations, and flat color backgrounds. The approach is the result of:

  • A concerted UI benchmark;
  • The rollout of the artistic direction;
  • Creating desktop/mobile mockups;
  • High-fidelity prototyping;
  • User testing.

Development with Drupal 9

The development adhered to the design spirit by minimizing custom development as much as possible. Most of the configuration work focused on the paragraphs, as the site has 37 types of paragraphs, making it a true library of blocks.

Content moderation

A word from our client, the Opéra Grand Avignon

“The agency bluedrop.fr managed to shape and bring to life what we had so far only imagined. Through their experience and advice, we were able to refine together both the visual and technical details of our future website to fit our needs as closely as possible. They're a dynamic team, attentive to our needs, patient and responsive. We were quite demanding in many areas, yet they managed to find the most suitable solutions for each challenge in the shortest possible time. Today, I am very proud to discover and share with both our audience and our artists the result of this collaboration. Bluedrop.fr has once again proven its ability to create a quality showcase for an opera house such as the Opéra Grand Avignon.”
