Context of the Redesign
The agency bluedrop.fr led the design and revamp of the cgt.fr website using the Drupal CMS. They have provided hosting and maintenance since 2018. As part of ongoing site improvement, bluedrop.fr prepared an audit of the site's interfaces in July 2021. This audit identified areas for improvement in terms of UX (user journeys) and UI (graphic design). It led to the redesign of the site’s theme, its enhancement, and the overhaul of the main user journeys.
The project was realized through the following actions:
- Requirements specification;
- UI wireframes for interface changes and the site’s style guide;
- Integration and development;
- Testing and quality control;
- User acceptance testing;
- Launch to production.
An Updated Technical Foundation – A Redesign Limited to Interfaces
The cgt.fr site has been properly maintained since its overhaul in 2018. Powered by Drupal 9, regularly updated and well maintained, there was no need for a complete site overhaul, which would entail work on specifications, content migration, and overall development. We focused on working from the existing instance while limiting configuration changes. This made it possible to offer users an improved experience without presenting the CGT teams with a lengthy and costly project.
Optimized content readability:

A new theme
The design team focused on improving the overall user experience of the site by implementing the following changes, to be deployed on a new theme:
- Redesign of the menu and footer;
- Revamp of the site’s homepage;
- Changes to the color scheme;
- Revised typographic elements (font, weight, size) for better content readability;
- Redesign of components (buttons, cards);
- Modification of the spacing system.
Improving Search and Content Filters
The site features rich and plentiful content. Following the UX audit and discussions with site users, we have proposed a more in-depth approach to content search and sorting. Our aims were to:
- Provide search aids (autocompletion, suggestions);
- Review search settings;
- Rethink how filters work on pages (notably the “Reset” button functionality);
- Improve editorial pages’ readability with targeted display;
- Allow the addition of new paragraphs alongside existing ones;
- Reduce the width of text containers;
- Offer related content from CGT’s microsites.

Redesign of the Agenda Underway
The CGT also wanted to take the opportunity of this interface overhaul to update the Confederation’s agenda. The changes involve displaying a list view with links to event detail pages. We proposed recreating a content type to simplify development (previous events from the current site are therefore not retained). We also suggested keeping a more discreet calendar view, as well as a map display. Additionally, a new taxonomy makes it easier to distinguish "Campaigns" with color coding reflected on the interface.
Actions:
- Creation of a new content type for events – Date, location, map block, optional image, attached document;
- Creation of a paginated list view and an archive list view (past events);
- Creation of a campaign taxonomy and a campaign filter on the list view – Color coding managed by campaign;
- Configuration and integration of the event detail view;
- Setup of an additional calendar block view – Linked to event details.
Mobile interfaces:

User testing results have already been encouraging. Both bounce rate and session duration have steadily improved since this new version went live.
