Elior Group' Drupal Site Factory
A major international player in contract catering and services, Elior Group manages a digital ecosystem made up of multiple websites: corporate, brand, country, and business entity sites. Over the years, this environment has grown increasingly complex: a proliferation of websites, heterogeneous configurations, and mounting technical debt.
In 2018, we took over the maintenance of their Drupal site factory with the objective of structuring this ecosystem and ensuring long-term scalability, consistency, and cost control.
Our missions
- Ecosystem mapping
- Maintenance takeover (TMA)
- Drupal installation profiles
- Drupal development
- UX/UI design
- Multisite deployment automation
- Drupal site factory orchestration
Challenges of ongoing maintenance for the Drupal site factory
- Industrialize without rigidifying: build a strong shared foundation while maintaining the flexibility required for local and business-specific needs.
- Reduce technical debt: secure Drupal core and module updates, and limit non-maintainable custom developments.
- Accelerate deployments: shorten time-to-market through customized installation profiles.
- Control costs: pool maintenance efforts across the entire portfolio of sites.
Design and development of installation profiles by need type
We designed and integrated several Drupal installation profiles, preconfigured website templates tailored to different types of needs. They include configured modules, a theme, views, blocks, content types, and technical governance rules.
Each website remains fully customizable: colors, color palettes, typography, logos, favicon, etc.
The “Corporate” profile for the group’s institutional websites
Objective: showcase the company’s vision, commitments, governance, and brand image.
The “Country Sites” profile for national versions
The “Blog” profile designed for content strategy, editorial communication, and SEO
The “Brands” profile, used by the multinational group’s various brands
The “Services” profile, also available for other brands within Elior Group
Tangible momentum: dozens of go-lives
Since 2018, we have actively supported the evolution and updating of this site factory. Our work notably included gradually migrating the group’s websites, initially spread across different CMS platforms, to the shared Drupal foundation.
Result: several dozen websites have been migrated in recent months. They now benefit from a secure Drupal platform, centralized maintenance, stronger editorial consistency, and significantly improved scalability.
The latest, derichebourg-multiservices.com, is part of the transition of Elior’s Services division to Derichebourg Multiservices. This integration perfectly illustrates how a structured and scalable site factory can support a large group’s strategic transformations, without technical disruption or loss of control.
