As part of the CapData Opéra project, our agency has just made a Drupal connector to the CapData Sparckl repository available to the community. This module plays a central role in implementing data interoperability among different opera houses. Eventually, it is intended to serve any stakeholder in the performing arts sector.
The CapData Opera project to solve challenges related to data exchange in the cultural sector
Initiated by the Réunion des Opéras de France (ROF), this project brings together eight partners, including six opera houses: Opéra national de Bordeaux, Théâtre du Châtelet, Opéra de Limoges, Opéra Comique, Opéra national du Capitole de Toulouse, Opéra de Rennes, and the TMNlab network / Digital Theatres & Mediation Laboratory. In response to identified needs for pooling of artistic and programming data, the project relies on semantic web technologies to create a platform that facilitates the dissemination of artistic and cultural creations.
In this context, we are also working on creating the archives website for the Opéra national de Bordeaux, for which we are showing you prototypes throughout this article.
Enable opera houses to efficiently share their data
The goal is to enable opera houses to efficiently share their data, particularly scheduled works, artistic productions, and the artists who have participated, thus increasing the discoverability of cultural productions, all while respecting each institution's sovereignty over its own data.
The three main objectives of the project are as follows:
- Interoperability: Facilitating the sharing and use of cultural data between different institutions.
- Accessibility: Making cultural data more accessible and usable via standard formats such as RDF.
- Innovation: Fostering innovation in the cultural sector by enabling better use of data through semantic web technologies.
This solution could, for example, be useful to the communications departments of an opera house or to local authorities wishing to collect or disseminate data. It could also be useful to artists seeking access to the list of content and media in which they have participated.
The Drupal CapData Connector module aims to facilitate the alignment and exposure of data in RDF format, which is essential for interoperability and the sharing of cultural data.

Implementation process
- Selection of published datasets and choice of the license applied for their reuse.
- Download and integration of the ready-to-use module.
- Configuration of the alignments carried out by the website staff, with no knowledge of computer programming required.
- Registration with the CapData service and selection of data processing, enrichment, and publication.
